Hello!
J nice to meet you
ABOUT MY JOURNEY
Born and raised in southern California to Filipino immigrants, I grew up a first gen American in a fairly traditional upbringing with a lot of food, family, love, and faith; studied psychology and music history at UCLA; and served two years as a member of AmeriCorps*VISTA — an arm of our domestic version of the Peace Corps.
Dabbling with yoga throughout college at Bryan Kest’s donation-based studio in Santa Monica, I developed a regular practice in 2007 when I was exhausted by chronic back pain from years of running. I found CorePower Yoga in OC and in 2010 enrolled in Power Yoga Teacher Training with Kumudini.
With no intention of teaching yoga as I was on the med school track, I signed up for PYTT because I am a forever student and a personal development junkie. Immediately after training, I started teaching — adding another side hustle to my rotation to keep me “productive”.
I was eager to share this moving meditation — a practice that combined a work-out and work-in. My passion for Seva (selfless service) and complete well-being, training and background, and desire to help others heal and transform all come together when I teach yoga and coach. This realization was cathartic and I observed Aparigraha, or non-attachment, to my long time childhood aspirations. I’ve been (slowly) leaning in to my intuition, the unknown path and a more expansive, authentic self ever since. The journey continues…
In class, I love to explore themes of one’s breakdowns and breakthroughs around awareness and presence, patterns & programming, transitions, taking action, relationships, boundaries, trust, non-attachment, and more. My intention is to serve and my hope is that you take what resonates with you and shift the practice to your life off the yoga mat.
